To learn programming for Unity and designing levels I’ve been following along to some great courses over on Lynda. The current course I’m watching teaches you how to make a simple adventure game.

The header image shows you what I’ve accomplished in roughly 4 hours or so. The character has animation states, a player controller with jetpack physics, crystals that the player picks up, deadly traps that can kill the player, and debris that spawns from the player on death and disappears shortly after. To build the maps I’m using a tile map editor that I built with the guidance of another Lynda course that teaches you about extending the Unity editor.
